| KEY VERSE: You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. Matthew 5:43-45 FAITH STORY: Deuteronomy 28 & Psalm 73 FAITH FOCUS: God rewards the righteous and punishes the evil, right? But then how do we explain the suffering of those who are obedient to God? What about evil that goes unpunished? There is scripture, such as Deuteronomy 28, that supports the view that God rewards the righteous and punishes the evil. This is known as the Deuteronomistic view, or DH theology. There is scripture that also laments that the righteous suffer and the evil prosper.
