The people were self-righteous because they thought that their sin was okay because they had the temple of the Lord. They had put their security in the temple, but God saw what they were doing and had the prophet Jeremiah go and proclaim to them that if they did not change their ways, God would take away the temple and their land. The people did not listen to Jeremiah and continued to live in self-righteousness. What Jeremiah prophesied came true and Judah fell. Continued... |
