In our story, Nicodemus came to Jesus at night inquiring about the signs Jesus had done. Jesus told him that he must be born from above. Jesus teaches Nicodemus that one must be born of water and Spirit. Nicodemus misunderstands what Jesus is saying. Just as humans have all had a physical birth, Jesus calls persons to be born again from above. It is the Holy Spirit that gives a person birth into a new spiritual life and identity. Continued... |
