|"HOPE and POWER" by Michele Hershberger|
BIBLE STUDY SESSION 111
"I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power." Ephesians 1:17-19
After a glorious opening of blessing and praise (verses 1-14), Paul now turns to a prayer of thanksgiving and intercession. Paul is thankful for the congregation’s faith and love for all the saints. He also asks God to give them resurrection power and the ability to recognize and believe that they have this power and the wisdom to use it wisely. This realization leads to hope. That hope and power ultimately rests in Christ. God has made Jesus head over all things for the church, which is his body, the fullness of God who fills all things.
to help youth claim the resurrection power offered by God to empower them to live as mature disciples.
