"A FAMILY WITH ISSUES"
YOUTH GROUP LESSON 2
Esau
Man from Gerar
King Abimelech

SCENE ONE: (Genesis 25:19-26)
Ike: Well for starters, I was 40 when I got married.
Becky: I married an old man!
Ike: But you were worth waiting for, honey!
Becky: Whatever you say, Ike.
Ike: I loved you so much! But I was real disappointed when you didn’t start having babies right away.
Becky: So was I!
Ike: So I started praying to God that she’d get pregnant, and she did!
Becky: That made me happy--until I got sick. I was so sick and tired during that pregnancy, I was ready to die. Then God told me I was carrying twins and that this was just the beginning of their struggles with each other.
Ike: Twin boys! Ah, the first one came out strong, screaming, with hair on his body. A real man! We named him Esau--the word sounds a little bit like “hair” in Hebrew.
Becky: The other twin was holding onto his brother’s heal, so we named him Jacob because that means “heel.” He’s my special boy.
Ike: Huh! He’s a wus! Esau and I go hunting together but Jake won‘t ever come along. He stays home and cooks with Becky.
Becky: I like having a son who cooks with me! Maybe if you weren’t so mean to him, he’d want to spend time with you!
Ike: Ha! Me? Mean? That sneaky son of yours is the mean one.
