MOVIE SYNOPSIS:
The film, Remember the Titans, depicts an all white high school football team who was coached by a white coach. When the school board dismisses the head coach and invites a black coach to take the wheel, there is a lot of resentment among the players and hidden feelings by the coach already in position. At first, only black players sign up to play, but at the last minute white players join as well. Football camp is all about trying to get the players to bond with each other, and get past their differences. They return to the “real world” to find that everyone has not made the same realizations that they have. They struggle to have a perfect season as they deal with everyone’s criticism.

You will be viewing three different clips. The first clip includes chapters five and six, “Setting the rules” and “Ain’t too proud to beg.” This clip shows when the players get to football camp and are forced to interact with each other. In these two clips we get a good sense of the tension between the players. Not only are the players racists, but the coaches have a lot of tension between them as well.
The second clip covers both chapters ten and eleven, “Lesson from the dead” and “Left side, strong side.” This clip is the turning point for the players. The coach takes the players to a Gettysburg battlefield and compares their struggles to that of the battle. It helps the players to realize that they need to straighten up and work with each other. The players soon form strong friendships.
