"IS HE WORTH YOUR TIME?" by Carol Duerksen and Jeremy Kempf
YOUTH GROUP LESSON 16
APPLY:
Ask students to imagine what Jesus would say to them, depending on which character they identify with in this story, and then to create a symbol of that message from Jesus using their box. (They can tear it up, rearrange it, whatever.) For example, if they identify with those who don’t know how to relate to Trent, what might Jesus be saying to them? How can that be symbolized with the box?
Optional: Invite students to share their boxes. Be aware of students who may be embarrassed with this aspect of the activity.

RESPOND:
Lead students in the following responsive prayer. You will be leading them with suggestions, followed by a quiet time for them to pray their own thoughts.
Jesus, when I read the story about Trent and Andrew, I felt like. . .
Silence
Forgive me for the times I have ignored the Trent’s in my life.
Silence
Be with me in the times when I feel like a Trent and that nobody understands or cares about me.
Silence.
Be with me, Jesus. Help me to know how to include people different from myself. Live in my heart and help me to share your love with people around me.
Silence.
And all God’s children said:
Amen!
