| MATERIALS AND ADVANCE PREPARATION: 1 Create a large banner prior to class and have it displayed in the room. Optional: Contact youth and have them create and bring it to class. The banner should say: Church is a dating service between us and God. 2 Newsprint and markers 3 Poster paper 4 Six statements (see below) on separate slips of paper FOCUS Divide the class into girls in one group, guys in the other. Give each group newsprint and markets. Ask each group to come with a list of ten different ways to show a person from the opposite sex that they are interested in them and/or ask them out for a date. How do they get the attention of somebody they like? Share the lists when both groups are done. Transition statement: Look at the poster. Have you ever thought about church like that? CONNECT Divide class into 6 groups. Each group should get one of the statements, poster paper and markers. They are to create a poster featuring their statement and anything else they want to do to illustrate the statement. Put the posters up around the room. Discuss each one as a class. What does each statement mean? What questions do they have about it? Is there anything new here? Which statement do you like the most? Which one “wraps it all up” for you? Continued... |
