SESSION OUTLINE
VIEWING AND DISCUSSING THE MOVIE:

Before viewing the movie, ask students to think about the following questions as they watch it:
1 Who is the visitor?
2 Which character do you relate to the most, and why?
3 How do you feel during this movie?
After viewing the movie, ask students to share their responses to the first three questions. Encourage them to think about how everyone in the movie is “visiting.” Continue discussion with the following:
1 What was the most memorable moment in the film for you?
2 What do we as global/American/Canadian citizens have to gain or lose by providing immigrants and refugees with the right to due process?
3 What are arguments for and against detaining immigrants and refugees in prison-like conditions? What are alternative ways that this could be handled?
4 What do we know about the faith of any of the characters?
5 How did or could faith affect what happened in each of the characters’ lives?
6 Look up and read Matthew 25:31-46. What does this passage say in relationship to immigrants and refugees?

APPLY/RESPOND:
